Maui Livin'

so guys, whats going on, how is everyone? send me some updates!! i'm having a pretty sweet time down here, thats for sure! it's been some really intense learning these past couple of weeks, it's really overwhelming, but sooo worth it! we're all getting really pumped to go on outreach, it's only like 3 and a half weeks til we go to thailand!! ohhhhhhh my! ya so if you can be praying for that craziness that would be awesome. umm i am slowly building my tan, i'm definatly pretty pale compared to most people here, but what can i say, i'm even pale compared to people back home! hmm, happenings around here... the fall dts was one base last week so it was sooo overwhelmingly full of people all the time, but we are now back to normal, so that is very nice. but ya, not too much to update on i guess, it's weird because it's just everyday life to me, but maybe it's exciting? if you want more details, seriously just send a quick little email asking a couple questions and i for sure will send one right on back!! love you!

Kona

So, wow, I just spent the week in Kona for a big DTS conference. It was called the gathering and it's where all the DTS's from the Hawaiian Islands come together, it was crazy to see how many people, just in Hawaii are doing this right now! But ya, I definatly learned a whole lot this week, it was pretty cool. I realized how much I have changed over the past couple of years, alot of the conference was really like, alter-call centered, and i just realized how much my relationship with Jesus has become so much more intimate. So that was cool to see how much I have grown over the past little while. I would love to hear from everyone though, please just send me an email or if you want you can ask me any random question, just cause I don't want to go into huge detail on this blog! So I hear that there's alot of snow back home, thats hilarious, just check out some of my pictures on facebook, and you will get a nice warm feeling inside from all my sunset pics!!!

One month Down

hey all... or as alot of my friends here say it: ya'll,
so first i need to apologize because i am so horrible at keeping people posted and everything. so i am very sorry, pray that God would teach me how to be better at that!! so i have just finished a media fast that i did for the past week, which i will count as one of the main factors that i haven't been staying in touch. the past couple of weeks have been really crazy! well we have gone into lecture phase which means we basically have a different speaker every week. the first week was a woman named maria, and she spoke about hearing God's voice, that was kind of hard for me because i started to second guess myself if i ever really heard God's voice. the second week the speaker was hamilton's own dave overholt! yes yes, a man that i have heard speak at camp for the past 4 or 5 years came to maui to speak at me DTS, hilarious. he spoke about our identity in Christ, it was awesome. last week was a hardcore local guy named waxer, he spoke about basica christianity and it was really cool because i prayed that God would teach me new things and spice up what my preconceptions were of him and he totally did! it was sooo cool! this week there is a guy speaking on the Holy Spirit, his name is jesse padjet, another JBC speaker of the past, definatly before my time. but ya, he's pretty intense sometimes the way he talks about things i get a little offended by cause he like swears or makes fun of people or something but i really have just been challenged to listen to him and what he's talking about insted of how he is saying it, and i totally agree with alot of what he's saying! i am a little nervous though just cause i haven't ever really had like a crazy experience with the Holy Spirit and up until today we have just been talking about it and like having sort of history lessons on ways that the Holy Spirit has worked through out all of time. it's so cool, but tomorrow we are going to be doing more like practical things so i am getting nervous/excited. i want to see what the Holy Spirit could do through me or teach me, but at the same time i am just nervous cause i have no clue what might happen!'
our school is going over to Kona on sunday which is really exciting! there is going ot be a huge conference sort of thing for all the hawaiian DTS's for the week, so that should be pretty fun! definatly send me an email or post a comment on my myspace or facebook if there is anything exciting going on at home or if there is something that i can pray for you for!! after a month of being home i am definatly starting to miss some of the regular things!! talk toyou later!

Exodus

hey guys,
so if you are wondering why you haven't heard from me for a couple of days, don't you worry! i have a very good reason!! so basically i arrived late to the opening ceremony thing (suprising, probably not...) but anyways, once i got there i found out that the next morning i was going to be going on a camping trip that they were calling Exodus because it was like leaving the land that sometimes hold us captive, kind of thing. so we weren't camping like fvyouth style or anything, this was hardcore roughing it, we could only bring the clothes we were wearing, a sleeping bag, water bottle, camera, and thats basically it! we were told that we could be gone anywhere upto 2 weeks! haha, well i knew that it wasnt going to be that long cause Amy Kirk told me about it a whole ago, but i still knew that it was going to be a challenge for me!! i mean, yes, i can go days without showering, but the fact is that we were playing in the mud, eating mr.noodles for almost every meal and like we couldnt change, couldn't brush our teeth, couldn't put on any deoderant. needless to say we were a rugged bunch!! it was so hilarious though, and it didnt even really matter because we all were gross and didnt know what we looked like, so it was pretty humbling i think!! the topic that our leaders spoke about alot was like the key to the banquet in heaven. so we all got keys as alittle reminder of our time. but then we wound up at this church that we thought we were just stopping at to use their washroom (which seemed like a huge blessing at the time since we'd been peeing in holes in the ground for the past 3 days) so we go in and the entire YWAM Maui staff had a huge banquet prepared for us!! it was totally awesome, and sooo good because the only things we'd been eating was oatmeal and mr.noodles. but ya, it was such a great experience, everyone got to know eachother pretty well, it was a great jumpstart to our time together. today we found out the two possibilites for our outreach locations they are Nepal and Indonesia. if you guys could keep me in your prayers with that because i really just want God to totally direct wherever he wants me!

Canadian Tourist

ALOHA!
hey guys, i've been in maui only for about a half a week now, so i hope no one is missing me too much already! it's so gorgeous here, its breathtaking! i honestly can't believe my eyes when i wake up in the morning! so for the past couple of days, since my mom and i have flown onto the island, we have been staying in a hotel in ka'anapali about 45 minutes from the YWAM base in Haiku. both places are amazing, but this side is clearly way more touristy. i'm moving into my house later on today, which i already checked out on thrusday, it reminds me of camp sooo much so i love it already! so really nothing too exciting has happened yet, i've just been hanging out, blending in to the whole tourist scene, but tonight i offically become a resident of maui!! haha, or atleast i will think of my self that way... feel free to email or send some real mail anytime!! it would be great to hear from people at home! espeically keep me updated if it snows since i basically didn't get a winter this year, which i miss dearly, bye for now!
